If you’re looking for Black Friday deals that are actually relevant to you as a pianist (of any level), you’re in the right place.
Maybe you have the same issue as me around this time of year: there are so many sales going on, but most of them don’t seem to be anything I’d be interested in. So here are things I’ve bought in the past on Black Friday and other things I wish I’d bought on Black Friday. And they’re all piano-related!
It doesn’t matter what level pianist you are; there’s a deal for every pianist here.
Table of Contents
Courses and Practice
The most obvious place to start with Black Friday deals for pianists are online courses and software.
Piano courses can run pretty expensive (the ones that are worth it, anyway), so grabbing a course that will span most of your pianist career in Black Friday deals is a frugal investment to make for yourself.
ProPractice by Josh Wright

Dr. Josh Wright received his DMA in Piano from the University of Michigan (a renowned music program) and has been teaching at the university level ever since. He’s won many international piano competitions and is an excellent teacher known for his YouTube channel.
I stumbled across his YouTube channel when I was suffering from tendonitis, as he has a video on how to heal tendonitis as a pianist:
It’s thanks to him that I was able to continue playing piano at all. I had been terrified I would never be able to play again.
I bought Josh Wright’s ProPractice Lifetime Access course during his Spring sale years ago, but the Black Friday Sale is a bigger discount (I think). I joined this course as someone who already had a performance degree in piano, as well, and I still think it was worth the money. I continue to learn from his in-depth tutorials and insightful curriculum to this day (as someone working on a PhD in music!)
The full ProPractice course goes all the way from absolute beginner through advanced (playing full concerti), so it truly is for pianists of any level.
Use the code BF2024 at checkout for $300 off!
Check out my full review here to learn what’s in the course!
You can also buy just the tutorials of single pieces like Debussy’s Arabesque if you don’t want to buy the full course. They are 50% off (so $7 total now!). You can see all of them here (also use the code BlackFriday2023)
Piano Marvel

Another good addition to your practicing arsenal is Piano Marvel. It’s a software/app that listens to you play and shows how note-accurate you are.
The way it works, is you can plug it into your MIDI keyboard, and it will track the notes you play. If you don’t have a digital keyboard, you can still play along and self-report how you did.
With scrolling sheet music, Piano Marvel is a great way to get daily sightreading in, which is important to getting faster at reading. They have a massive library of music spanning every genre: pop, classical, jazz, film scores, and so much more.
Piano Marvel is generally not that expensive to begin with, but if you want 20% off, you can sign up now for a discount!
Pianists who are learning to read notes and play in time would benefit the most from using Piano Marvel.
Girl in Blue Music
Hey, that’s me! I also do a Black Friday sale (40% off to be exact)

I do have 3 free courses already, so there’s no way to discount those any more. You can grab them for free now if you didn’t know about them already:
But! My two big courses are 40% off for Black Friday: Chord Progressions and Harmony and Play Music By Ear. So if you want to learn more about harmony (helps with memorization and really getting into the music) or how to play by ear, I’m your gal!
There are other resources here at Girl in Blue Music as well, like sheet music, guide books, composition packs (Christmas themed too!), and more.
Sheet Music and Reading
One thing that pianists don’t always calculate into their budgets is the cost of sheet music. Presumably, you want to keep learning new pieces of music, and the $3–5 cost of each piece can add up. Black Friday sales are a great opportunity to stock up on music to learn for the next year while saving some money.
It’s also an opportunity to start planning any New Year’s Resolutions or goals, so you can actually achieve them in the next year.
With that said, here are some sheet music places that are running Black Friday Sales:
Sheet Music Plus

Sheet Music Plus, run by Hal Leonard, boasts probably the largest collection of sheet music on the internet. They include classical works (with fancy Henle editions) through pop, jazz, and so much more.
There are official sheets for film scores, pop tunes, and others, but they also have the ArrangeMe program, where cover artists can upload their versions. It’s one of the only places I was able to find sheet music for my acapella group when I was in undergrad, and there are so many fun arrangements for piano!
Sheet Music Plus is currently running a Black Friday sale with up to 25% off, so it’s definitely worth looking at!
Amazon
Everyone has an opinion on Amazon. I get it. I try not to buy from them too much and support local businesses instead.
But, if you don’t have the money to always do that and are looking for a deal on method books, Amazon is running a Black Friday on my favorite set of method books: Adult Piano Adventures by Faber.
I use the adult versions for students above the age of 8 because it’s just more enjoyable for everyone.
They’re currently a couple of dollars off, so now’s the time to grab both volumes!
Read my review on the Adult Piano Adventures books here:
AbeBooks
Buying physical books can add up over time, especially if you love to read, like me. Sometimes you can get really cheap books on Amazon, but a lot of times it’s cheaper to buy used books.

AbeBooks is one of the best platforms out there for buying used books on the internet. They also boast collections of rare books.
Their sale section isn’t Black Friday specific, but while you’re in the spirit of getting good deals, it’s definitely worth checking out their sales.
I’ve gotten method books, fiction, music theory, and many other types of books online from AbeBooks, so check it out if you’ve never heard of them!
Girl in Blue Music
It’s me! Again!
Did you know I also do a little composing and arranging? I do it completely for fun on the side, so I don’t have a ton of arrangements out, but if you’re looking for a contemporary classical piano solo vibe, I’ve got you. Especially if you want a Christmas arrangement!
Here are a few examples:

Piano Entrepreneurs
If you’ve been a pianist for a while, you’ve likely thought about how you can make money with this hobby or career in a sustainable way. I have an article on passive income streams you can set up and how, and of those options, here are some Black Friday sales you’ll want to take advantage of!
Website Hosting
Nowadays, most pianists who want to make money with piano have a website at the very least to act as a home-base where people can get to know you. Even if you want to make money as a content creator on YouTube, having a website to link to other social media, lessons, affiliate marketing, and more is paramount to your financial success.

My recommended website platform is WordPress. Note there is a difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
WordPress.com refers to the blogging platform where you don’t get a custom domain unless you pay. You can host with WordPress.com now, but it’s often cheaper to self-host and install the WordPress software from WordPress.org to your site.
The short of it: use WordPress.com if you want everything taken care of for you and don’t mind spending a little money. Use WordPress.org with other hosting if you think you’re tech savvy enough to do the installation yourself.
Siteground
If you choose to go the WordPress.org path and self-host, you’ll need servers to host your website on. This is where Siteground comes in.

You buy a domain from them, and they’ll actually manage installing WordPress for you automatically.
Of the many self-hosting platforms out there, Siteground has been a favorite of the other entrepreneurs I know. They have great customer service and rarely have any issues.
Siteground is currently running a Black Friday sale for 85% off. That means, you can pay for hosting for $1.99/month.
As a pianist entrepreneur, getting a website for that cheap converts to huge value in the future.
LearnDash
One important avenue of income for pianists is through online courses.

Yes, there are a billion basic piano courses out there, which can make it hard for newer course creators to get a leg up. My recommendation is the make courses on specific topics that you find yourself repeating to students over and over again.
This could be things like how to practice, how to deal with nerves, and smaller topics that people would search the internet for.
Most website hosting (WordPress, Siteground, Elementor) don’t have a way for you to build a course within them without a ton of code, so that’s where LearnDash comes in.
I’ve explored so many different e-learning platforms and finally settled on LearnDash because of how easy it is to use out of the box and for how customizable it is. They also offer a plan with hosting included.
It’s so easy that you can make a YouTube playlist of your course, and LearnDash will automatically create a course for you from that playlist.
LearnDash is running a 40% off Black Friday sale for every tier and add-on, so it’s definitely worth exploring! From 11/27/2024–12/03/2024, use code BFCM2024 at checkout!
